The Goose Sauvignon Blanc
Due to the very high natural acidity of the fruit these wines have a zesty nature and have a strongly mineral driven style. The bouquet of the wine is Cape Floral driven with a sure tropical distinction.
The Goose Sauvignon Blanc
".....cool and precise on the nose with a bone-dry finish. Definitely more Sancerre than Marlborough in style. Very firm and succulent. Minerals on the nose. Very refined and appetising and shouldn't age too fast. Quite an eye opener for this taster. 17/20" Jancis Robinson MW, www.jancisrobinson.com, January 2012
The single-vineyard, site-specific Goose range of Fine Wines are truly unique. It is hand-crafted in high altitude vineyards on the northern slopes of the Outeniqua Mountains, in the heart of the famous Garden Route of South Africa. These unique world-class wines are vineyard specific. The Upper-Langkloof wine ward boasts low annual temperatures of around 17 degrees Celsius, creating elegant styled wines with a classic finish. These "cool-climate" wines are exceptional examples of the grape varietals.
The very cool and fresh "terroir" allows for late season ripening and fruit of great elegance and finesse. Typically, these are complex and sophisticated wines, which are appreciated by wine connoisseurs around the world. The Goose Sauvignon Blanc is the flagship white in our range with a very limited production each year. Due to the very high natural acidity of the fruit these wines have a zesty nature and a strong mineral driven style. The bouquet of the wine is Cape Floral driven with a sure tropical distinction. Small hints of gooseberry support the nose and on entry the palate of the wine is very generous with an exciting zesty structure. The wine lingers on the palate and shows great maturation potential.
Packaged in a traditional Riesling shaped bottle and quite appropriate really as the acidity in our Sauvignon Blanc grapes are all natural, which culminates in a beautifully, balanced and broad mouth feel so reminiscent of the great wines of Sancerre, Alsace and Mosel.
